Modern Youngsters
Today’s youngsters as all can see
Take criticisms from neither you nor me
Highly opinionated and conceited too
Before you could speak, they would silence you.

They throw a challenge at you instead
Engaging in squabbles or at loggerhead
They claim to know more than your age
And better in control than you would imagine.

Saying, ‘It’s the generation gap’ as an excuse
Thus, covering it up to conceal the ruse
It’s fervently hoped they could manage their life
And learn the ropes in order to survive

And successfully settle down happily
Grown-up and changed for the better in maturity
Well-mannered, humble, filial and grateful too,
So that they other would feel respectful to.

Chou Lang Kah Ch’in Ch’ai
Chit lei lak sam, hee lei ch’au bee,
Keik Kuei ee ei lang, bou ch’u bee.
Ch’iou lang, suan lang, p’ak tei it,

Meh lang, kong lang, t’nia liau sit.
Lee iong, knua suei lang see peing siong,
Bou u pnua tiam ei tua liong,

Sniau kakee high and might,
Abuei chiak k’oh mm chai see,
Life has its ups and down,
Fortune smiles but also frowns.

T’eing hai louk lan ei jit chee,
Balu kah bei chnua kahh see.
Bak chiu kah ei pek hoh kim,
Kam buan sniau bueil chou hou sim.
Chou lang eing kai kah ch’im ch’ai,

Be humble and polite
This is filthy and that is smelly
Snubbing those beneath one’s dignity
To ridicule and to chide others he would excel

He rebukes and criticisms are unbearable as well.
Taking advantage, belittling others are so typical of him
Without any sense of generosity at all it seem

Putting on airs, and so high and might is he
Never ever going through hardship he just couldn’t see,
But life always has its ups and downs
One day fortune smiles, next day fortune frowns

Just wait till he gets into a fix, I’d say
Then, would he learn to be humble one day
Only then would he open his eyes to reality
And in repenting, starts to do good for humanity
As humans we should always stay simple and humble
So that we would understand ourselves and our neighbours.
